Frequently Asked Questions
   about Becoming a Union Contractor

Q: What is it going to cost me to become a union contractor?

Q: What is the current rate?

A: The rates are established in the contracts negotiated between the union and employers. The rates vary depending on the geographical location of the project. In addition, the rates of some of the specialty trades - such as pile driving, millwrighting, floorcovering, and residential woodframing - may differ from the standard carpentry rate. Finally, all contracts have raises spelled out on an annual or bi-annual basis.

In order to get accurate, up-to-date information on wage rates, contact the Contractor Relations Department at 1-800-275-6200 or the local union that covers the area where the job is listed. A complete list of local unions and contact information is available in the "Member Benefits" section of our Web site or can be accessed by clicking here.
